Naturopathic physician, Dr. Ann Aresco, founded ProNatural Physicians Group, LLC in 2011 to address obstacles within the current alternative medicine environment. ProNatural Physicians Group is a practice of Naturopathic Doctors (ND’s) who work in coordination with other medical practitioners including counselors, social workers, massage therapists, Nurse Practitioners, MD’s, DO’s and other medical professionals with like-minded practices of preventative medicine and whole body health care.
Originally from Connecticut, Dr. Aresco opened the doors to her Kensington private practice in 2006. She quickly built up a reputation as an approachable, warm ND with a proven track record, successfully treating patients of all ages for both acute and chronic ailments.
An active leader and spokesperson for naturopathic medicine on a state level, Dr. Aresco served the Connecticut Naturopathic Physicians Association (CNPA) for many years. She held the positions of both treasurer and vice president prior to being elected as president in 2006. Dr. Aresco led CNPA until 2010, working hard to promote holistic medicine within the state. One of Dr. Aresco’s primary goals was to elevate the public’s knowledge of naturopathic medicine through legislative action. She fought to protect the interests of both patients and ND’s by reviewing and advocating for bill changes at the capital level. She rallied for the successful passing of a bill that requires continuing education for all Connecticut naturopathic physicians.
She was also a key in initiating the legislative efforts still underway today to grant the full scope of practice to the state’s ND’s for prescription rights. On a national level, Dr. Aresco is a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
Dr. Aresco treats patients with acute conditions such as sinus infections and strep throat, and a wide variety of chronic health conditions like digestive problems, allergies, auto-immune diseases, such as thyroid disorders, Hashimoto’s, Lyme disease and rheumatoid arthritis. She believes in a well-rounded team approach to healthcare, and currently has a an acupuncturist on staff, is adding other practitioners as expansion plans are underway, along with two administrative assistants to help create a seamless, organized, and efficient practice for her patients.
No stranger to entrepreneurship, before becoming an ND, Dr. Aresco was a business owner and also worked in the insurance industry, two distinctly different experiences that proved to be very beneficial many years later. She learned the insurance system from the inside out, from processing, to claims, to the tech division of the claims department.
Dr. Aresco first became interested in holistic medicine when she was pregnant with her son. She began to fully understand the need for natural treatments and less invasive therapies that produced safe and curative results. This catalyst was a springboard that inspired Dr. Aresco received her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Arizona. She also has a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University.
