James Osborne is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Board Certified Professional Counselor, Board Certified PTSD Clinician and Fellow in the American Psychotherapy Association. Having worked in both the United States and Europe, James has 40 years of clinical experience in the mental health field as a therapist, employee assistance counselor, trainer, consultant, clinical director and supervisor.
He is trained in Gestalt Therapy, Jungian Psychology, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and EMDR. He works mainly with individuals treating trauma, co-occurring disorders, loss / grief, anger management, substance abuse, depression, as well as, chronic and severe mental disorders.
He also develops positive behavioral support plans for individuals with intellectual / developmental disabilities. As a Vietnam Era Veteran, James has worked with veterans, active duty personnel and their families both in the United States and Europe.
James is committed to a holistic approach to self-care, using mindfulness and a number of nontraditional therapeutic approaches / interventions for clients, such as sound and movement, drawing, mask making and “writing to heal journaling.” He believes it is important for people to integrate changes into their lifestyle and be participatory in treatment rather than simply take medications. He believes in the value of working with multiple providers to support and assist personal change and healthiness.
He offers individual therapy, coaching and group therapy for such topics as anger management, coping with depression, mindfulness based interventions for persons with disabilities and their caregivers, substance abuse and coping with change. Other topics will be developed as requested.
